On the 30 of July, the Angolan President called for more investment in the economy to in order to create more jobs, as he addressed the opening session of the Business Forum with approximately 500 businessmen in Luanda.
Data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) for 2018 shows that the unemployment rate in Angola stands at 28.8% (about 3 million people) and mostly affects young people of both sexes. To combat unemployment, which stands at approximately 30% (data from national statistics institute) the government is investing in the creation of 250,000 jobs in different areas over the next three years under the Action Plan for the Promotion of
Employability (PAPE). The program was recently approved by President Lourenço, in Decree 113/19, of 16 July.
The President urged entrepreneurs to invest more in livestock, fisheries, tourism and other sectors of the economy.
